Obscene quotes HIC

The last couple of weeks I've been looking to replace the Clio 182, and I'd seen a Focus ST that caught my eye, now I'm insured with HIC and I've been happy for the last few years with them, the Clio has been great through them , I'm 23 and all my mods are declared, I pay £590 full comp

I had a quick look on confused admiral quoted £840 full comp with a air filter and a few other company's were about £20 -£40 away from that, which I'd happily pay!

Rang HIC today , i gave them all the details , and said how much extra as I paid the original £590 out right on my 182, they said because it's 1/2 a litre bigger there's a bit of a cost !

They want an extra £1200 as well as the £590 I've previously paid! Must think stupid and made of money, so obviously I said you must be having a laugh how much to cancel the policy, they them said they can knock it down to just £500 more!

First off, how the hell do they just loose this extra £700 they quoted me first time, and still i wouldn't be silly enough to pay that!

She didn't get me cancelation fee still so I gave up said leave it !

Is it just me or are they making it up as they go along?? I know for certain I will not be renewing with them out of principle !! I'm a bit reluctant to cancel the policy as I've only had it about 7-8 weeks ! So looks like I'll wait a little longer !

Is it me or are they having a laugh?

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
Different insurers specialise in different cars. That may fall outside of there competitive area.

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
I know it can see ridiculous sometimes, but may its over a certain cc if your over a certain age, and as your under 25 for example its outside there range!

I renewed in January, was quoted between £300 and £2000+ !

I must have one of the best quotes.....
I bought a impreza turbo when I was 20 with 1 years ncb. Started to look at insurance. Obviously wasn't going to be cheap.
Rang around lots of specialists as well as using comp sites. I tried a Subaru specialist insurance who gave me a quote of 33.5k on a 6k Subaru!! After I stopped laughing I said I could buy a brand new Sti for that and kindly refused their offer.
Got insurance for 2.5k in the end..... 31k saved. Lol!

Im glad it's not just me ! Looks like I'll be keeping the 182 at this rate and put some money in the bank!

When the renewal is due buy a focus and go with admiral lol

Bit gutted but hey ho

Impressive with the scooby! Lol 33.5k is a bargain maybe get two?

Clios are £400 more to insure than my Focus lol.

Pretty sure they determine your quote by the letter your name begins with because the whole insurance system seem very random to me.

Haha and me , I find it hard to believe that I'm more of a risk in the focus, it has more airbags, no quicker standard really , and surely more cliosports have been smashed up than focus'

  Clio 197 F1
I don't get Insurance either, the stupid quotes are down to them not wanting your business I suppose. When I swapped to the 197 and wanted to declare mods I'd bought Admiral who had been pretty good went from £600 a year on a 1.6l Megane to just under £3k for the Clio, had my policy cancelled there and then.
Young lad where I work bought a 2003 1.4L fiesta and paid £4k insurance when the car cost him £1500, just laughed at him for weeks but apparently that's the cheapest he could find, I was amazed.

Theres a bloke who lives near me who has a nurburgring white Astra (least i think it is, has 'Burg on a private reg)

it sounds amazing I have to say , not really looked much into them 2bh

If it's white and sounds good it's probably a burg. Should have a strip like a checker flag style the length of boot, roof and bonnet. There's only 835 of them made so not many about. They come with a remus exhaust fitted.

Well insurance is definitely a load of crap because I used to pay 120 more on a 406 estate diesel that's worth a grand odd than my 10k Astra vxr! And my mini Cooper s was over 100 cheaper than the 406.

It's ridiculous. I could insure a 20k focus rs for the same price as the 406..... Wtf?!

But I can't complain as my insurance seems to be cheap.... :)

quote on Jag XJR - refused
quote on Jag XJRS - £800 ?!?! more confused!

Apparently my clio has gone up as it's a performance car, not more so than it was the previous year.
And I can have a supercharged 4.2l Jag, but not the standard version!

Lol. Another classic insurance story.

When I had the 406 diesel estate, I could insure that for 610 and could insure a 25k noble m12 gto3 for 660..... Hmmm.

3ltr twin turbo petrol 0-60 3.5secs vs 1.9 turbo diesel 0-60 in 15.never seconds. I can see why their similar price in insurance!
