Occasional Preheating Warning Light and Vibrating Noise

I have a Clio 1.6V (Expression+ 2002 model) and I have the following problem:
1. Occasional electronic coil/preheating light - When car is running I have no problem. But when I slow down for a traffic light or for parking I get this warning light (that too occasionally). And the engine makes a different sound as if it is going to stall. At this point, if I give a slight acceleration and release it, the car stalls.
2. After parking with the warning light ON, I hear a vibrating sound near the left head light (might be the fan sound). But I hear it only when warning light is ON. So thought that might be related to the warning light.

Its more of an inconvinience to me and others too as I am stalling near the traffic lights. Please share any thoughts about this issue.

That's going to be a tricky one to answer without seeing I'm afraid. A good place to start would be with diagnostics.

Thanks for the advice Mick. My problem was that the warning light doesn't appear all the time. It occasionally appears and if I accelerate over 30 MPH it vanishes.

But fortunately it appeared when I went to the Renault service today and after running the diagnostics on it, the technician has decided that it is due to a bad MAP sensor. He tried to adjust it, but looked like he did not succeed. He suggested me to replace it with a new one. Looking at it, I thought it might cost £20-£30 (got fooled by its size). I inquired the cost and when he said that it costs £180 (with labour + VAT), I was speechless. Being not so rich, I just thought I can live with the faulty one. But after leaving the service center, I never encountered the problem again. Possibly because of the adjustments done by the technician.

Please suggest if I can live with it. If not, do I have any option other than spending big bucks.
