office 2007 buggering about

Hi guys
has anyone had any problems with ms office 2007s Word program?
my GF got it yesterday for her uni stuff and when she saves stuff she cant reopen it, it just says "...(whatever file is called)....is unavailable"
does anyone have any ideas as to how to sort this out cos Microsoft are less than helpfull (nobs)

she trying to open it on another computer or on the same computer?

office 2007 addes a x at the end of the file names e.g .doc is now .docx

the x files are not valid with older versions of office. You have to save them in word 2000/03 compatibility mode

yeah shes opening it on the same PC, could be seconds later and still doesnt open.
