Offset Problem

Guys, i need some help.

Ive been sent some wheels, they are Toora Platinum 5, 4X100, 17s, E040.

I went to try and put these on my 172 sport (02) and the back wheel just catches off the caliper and wont go on. Can anyone help? Is this the right offset ive been sent cause the company just said they were going to send me 5ml spacers. I just feel i may be getting fobbed off.

All help would be most appreciated.

So does this mean that i havent been sent the wrong wheels then and hes telling the truth?

Its just i had superlegerras and they went on no probs...

Is that the wheels you have on i can see?

yeah ive got toora plat 8s in a 40 offset too, they might be the closest offset for your car, i dont personally know !! but just put some 5mm spacers on the rear and see

You need ET37. 5mm spacers will help but once you lower the car (you are going to lower it yeah?) you may find its too close to the arch. 3mm spacers would be better - but youre better off without spacers at all.

Already lowered!

I had 17" leggeras, sold them and these just wont go on. I reckon ive been sent the wrong ones. Do i need to go back to the tw*ts and ask why they have sent be this offset? or maybe this is all they have in this type of wheel>?

if the offset of your car is 48 and the wheels are 40 then they should stick out rather than in !! strange, maybe its the design of the wheels ? or they sent the wrong ens ? does it have ET40 stamped in them ?

Where on the wheels is the offset stamped? is it on the inside somewhere??? cause i will have a lonight when i get home.

The receipt shows E040, but this might not be the case, i just hope ive got comeback if theyre the wrong wheels???

Correct ET is 37 - therefore if theyve sent ET 40 theyll be too far in and will catch the caliper. Wheels are not made in all offsets - it may not be possible to get the right offset in this model.

it would push them out 3mm remember these offsets are negative

Just checked a web site and they do a ET35 in this wheel. So in that case they exist!.

I reckon theyve cocked up. Im getting slowly annoyed.

Does this mean i would need spacers on the front and back? Cause the calipers are bigger on the front? or is it not the case?

dogmaul had some ET35 17"s and got some rubbing. ET37 or nothing!!

god im confused IF YOU NEED 37 then YES they are the right ones, i thought that the standard offset was 48 ??

if peeps with 172s are saying 37 then they are right and need 3mm spacers !!

Starting to sh*t bricks now, spoke to a wheel place up here and they told me straight away that these wheels do not go on a clio 172 Sport, if you put spacers on then they hit the arches, either that or shave the calipers which im not going to do. EEK. HELP, Sudenly i feel sick.

they are a funny wheel, they rubbed my rear caliper and i needed 8mm spacers and theres room for a fag paper between them now. if you get 3mm spacers and try it, thats all you can do !!

Tried the front ones on and they are fine.. pleanty of space..

Must be the wheels, i have checked the offset and they are defo 40.

Can i just confirm that if these are 40 offset then would that mean that these would stick out more?

So is 35 say a larger offset than 40. so the smaller the offset amount the further out they would sit?!

thats true yes, like if you fit a Citroen wheel (about a 15 offset), to a Ford (usually a 38 offset) they stick out too far

i work at Motor World and the offset usually supplied for all Clios is 38 if the wheel is made in that offset, if you have been sent 40 and they only make 35 and 40 id say they have gone for the right one as its closest to whats recommended for the car

before they send you the spacers id ask for 3mm ones instead depending on how close they are to the rear caliper, the smaller the spacer the better

you need 3mm spacers, NOT 5mm!!!!!! can everyone please forget about the original offset, its not important, ET37 is what is required if fitting 17s end of!!!!

So i gather i need 3ml spacers then Fred!!!!

Im being sent 5ml by the guy, he said that he would do this as a good will jesture so im waiting for them. But u think its worth buying some 3ml ones anyway?..

The front go on no problem, i tried them last night. I just hope the spacers work cause i was told that these wheels will not go on the back.
