Oh dear again!

  clio182,capri,defender90
I serviced my car last week its an 04 182,upon taking the under sheet off i found a bolt, the another bolt, then another and then another!I looked up and there was nothing holding my sump on apart from the gear box housing. Every single sump bolt had fallen out.

How dodgy is that!

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

cheers

Maybe, but he could mean that he went and had his service done.

We'll see lol

Yeah, i did it myself.

just seems odd, cant think of a reason why they would be loose except vibration.

did you over tighten and strip the bolts perhaps? or didnt tighten them to the correct torque setting?

Always use new bolts on engines, the thread stretches and due to heat cycles they lose there tolerances, also loctite lol

every single bolt came out?
theres like 20 bolts holding it on!!! never seen that id have thought the sump would have cracked if it was just bolted to the bell housing and left.

and must have been leaking???

seen things like bell housing bolts come loose on deisels but..

ive never had the sump off, why would i need the sump off to service my car?
it was leaking but only a tiny bit so the under tray caught it all,and yes all the bolts were out, im so lucky it didnt come off!
