Oh, hi.

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
After 5 years and several cars, I've finally returned to the fold. It's taken a couple of months of scouting around, having folk take the piss or myself just being far too fussy, but I finally picked up my Racing Blue Clio 182 on Saturday. It was only advertised for 2 hours before I'd put a deposit on it. Both Cup packs, 28k miles and completely standard (thankfully such a thing still exists!). The tyres are tip top Exalto 2's with plenty of tread, it's got full service history and both belts done late last year. Travelled on the train with the missus (taking 8 hours!), and wasn't disappointed with anything at all. The interior is absolutely spot less, it looks brand new, and apart from a couple of tiny stone chips on the front, the bodywork is superb, too. Considering I was close to paying £6.8k for a similar car with more miles from a dealer just 2 weeks ago, I'm chuffed I turned down the opportunity as this one cost over £1k less than that!

Anyway, like I said, apart from Silvervisions which I fitted today, it's completely stock - which seems to be a rarity at the moment, as everyone is doing their own thing and making the car just how they want it. Can't say I'm any different, as I was planning coilovers, an exhaust, induction kit and possibly some black Turini's, but at the moment, I'm really happy with how it is. There's also a local place that does powder coating, so I may enquire about some engine components getting coated black. I think I'll give it a month or so before contemplating any purchases, as we're going to Paris in May so could do without spending money until then. There'll be changes over the next few months, though, regardless of how big or small.

One thing which won't be leaving are the stripes. I know they're not to everyone's tastes, but I really think they give the car a bit of character and presence on the road, and it certainly separates the blue paintwork, which is very in your face as it is. So they won't be going.

Anyway, enough sh*t-chat and on with the pictures. It's just a normal Racing Blue Clio, TBH, but might as well show it off :

I'll also say once again, trying to get the colour of Racing Blue across in a photo does not give it the justice it deserves. Different camera's, different results. It's such an odd ball.

Nice. I prefer RB with stripes so glad they're staying.

Oh yeah, I actually forgot to mention I've ordered a Cup spoiler, too

So yeah, that should be on soon.

M3 went so the missus could get a more baby friendly car, and we could pay off a loan. Then I was left with the coins, so still got around £1500 to spend.

Very tidy, i think a cup spoiler would finish it off nicely well done on ordering one

Fair play :) I predict your exhaust will be the next thing to change, probably as it will fall off. :D

LOL. Well I had a BG182 from new in 2004, and Gemma has had a RB182 like this one, and also a 172, so it's all good. I'd actually forgotten how pokey and nimble they are. Point and squirt, excellent fun

Can't have had cup spoiler pack from Renault as no rear spoiler.

Looks a nice clean example though :)

100% cup suspension?? The ride looks higher than mine ever did? And cup suspension without cup spoilers? I'd check the bolt spacing before ordering coilovers.

Good call, looks to sit higher than my sisters RB. Better without cup-packs if opting for coilovers later on, much more choice for 54mm fitment

looks like a good example. and low miles too!

good on ya for keeping the stripes its the way RB's were sposed to be!

No doubt, in fact I'd prefer none cup suspension for that reason. I'd just be annoyed at being possibly mis-sold. Hope I'm wrong.

It possibly hasn't got Cup suspension pack. It was advertised as a 182 Cup but in the advert it said FF. I wasn't bothered, it will never be tracked so anything I got extra for the price was a bonus, if anything. Definitely handles well enough, anyway! :)

Aye.

So for Scutchio's attention

Wheel off, tape measure out, measure suspension leg bolts, 54mm = non cup (172), 60 = Cup packed

Fair enough fella, wasn't trying to piss on your bonfire, looks a good one. I miss RB. Stripes came over after a week with mine, every chavvy spotty oik wanted a race.

Yes, thank you Beckoi. You did very well, as always. Much thanks to you <3 x

To be honest, lad, if you want to mod it I'd say you're better off without the packs. I think a FF should be left as is. Your extra 1.5k will get you some nice add-ons. Good shout on the spoiler. :)

Cracking purchase price considering the one daaaarn sarf.

Cheers mate. Will check those tomorrow, but I was definitely planning on dropping the mofo on coilovers anyway. At least now I'll know which to order when I come to.

Very very nice. I always think standard 182 exhausts should have been bigger. just doesnt look right compared to others with aftermarket systems
