UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
After 5 years and several cars, I've finally returned to the fold. It's taken a couple of months of scouting around, having folk take the piss or myself just being far too fussy, but I finally picked up my Racing Blue Clio 182 on Saturday. It was only advertised for 2 hours before I'd put a deposit on it. Both Cup packs, 28k miles and completely standard (thankfully such a thing still exists!). The tyres are tip top Exalto 2's with plenty of tread, it's got full service history and both belts done late last year. Travelled on the train with the missus (taking 8 hours!), and wasn't disappointed with anything at all. The interior is absolutely spot less, it looks brand new, and apart from a couple of tiny stone chips on the front, the bodywork is superb, too. Considering I was close to paying £6.8k for a similar car with more miles from a dealer just 2 weeks ago, I'm chuffed I turned down the opportunity as this one cost over £1k less than that!
Anyway, like I said, apart from Silvervisions which I fitted today, it's completely stock - which seems to be a rarity at the moment, as everyone is doing their own thing and making the car just how they want it. Can't say I'm any different, as I was planning coilovers, an exhaust, induction kit and possibly some black Turini's, but at the moment, I'm really happy with how it is. There's also a local place that does powder coating, so I may enquire about some engine components getting coated black. I think I'll give it a month or so before contemplating any purchases, as we're going to Paris in May so could do without spending money until then. There'll be changes over the next few months, though, regardless of how big or small.
One thing which won't be leaving are the stripes. I know they're not to everyone's tastes, but I really think they give the car a bit of character and presence on the road, and it certainly separates the blue paintwork, which is very in your face as it is. So they won't be going.
Anyway, enough sh*t-chat and on with the pictures. It's just a normal Racing Blue Clio, TBH, but might as well show it off :
I'll also say once again, trying to get the colour of Racing Blue across in a photo does not give it the justice it deserves. Different camera's, different results. It's such an odd ball.
