oil additives

do any of you use these oil treatments/additives available to help lubricate your engine ?

are they worth it as extra protection before a trackday? along with those fuel system cleaners?

or a waste of money?

if they were any good, the oil manufacturers would put them in the oil from the start

my dad used to work as a salesman for "forte" selling those sorts of products, and he swears by the gas treatment thing they sell, always uses it in our cars... basically you stick it in the petrol tank, and it burns really hot removing any crap that might have accumulated in the pistons.

manual says no additives of any kind should be used,i wouldnt wanna risk it tbh

I use ZX1 EXTRA LUBE and have used it on my previous 172 for 55,00 miles, basically all my cars over the last 8 years have had a shot of extralube every service, its a 250 ml shot, it does not mix with the oil, it uses it as a medium to flow through engine internals, and its as thin as water.

Thats what i thought, always those additive things were a waste of cash

Would it not remove bits of carbon etc that is plugging wee hairline cracks etc etc.

And cause problems ?

That wouldn't have crept up if you just added nothing. :S

but just use decent oil and change it at regular intevals and you'll have no need for anything

Felix, ik rij met Motul 10w40 olie en het is echt top spul. wordt bij mij om de hoek verkocht.
Toen ik het er bij mij ingooide was de motor gewoon stil.. ook koud ! aanrader, Opie Oils zegt het ook (Olie god )

is het tikken niet gewoon de injectoren ? die tikken ook flink, zou je kunnen zien als kleppen..

Ik heb ook een paar duizend met de Wynns toevoeging gereden , maar echt pas na de oliewissel met Motul was er duidelijk verschil
