How often should you do a oil change on a 172 half way through a service or every service?

You should really do it half way.

but cars do run just as well if you stick to the intervals.
Personally im a 5000 mile man.

How about engine flush is it better leaving it out because your putting in decent oil?

When I get my 12k service next month am putting in Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 fully synth, I may change myself at 18k & then every mid-service

6k personally. £8 per oil service. Don't worry myself about all that Silkolene malarky...i get Shell Helix free...beltin.

^ Shell Hellix Ultra is very good, used that on my 172 until 36k service @ GDI when they normally use Silkolene, Was sceptical tbh but couldn't believe how quieter the engine was at idle and how smooth the engine felt, If it hadn't been for GDI though I'd still be using Shell

I think thats def' overkill Leeshez. Modern full synthetics are good for 10k.
Too many changes can let dirt in.

I used to do it with my corsa. I owned it 4 1/2 years and it had F.S.H and i did about 6 oil changes on my own about 10 / 12 in total lol.
