Oil Coolers - Yes, or No?

Just pondering the next thing to buy for the Trophy really.

Will probably be doing another oil change before the next trackday, so thinking that whilst everything is apart, it might be worth bunging a Mocal Oil Cooler on there - anything to further helpthe car survive really.

Would get a thermostat one so that it only does it thing once the oil gets to a certain temperature.

My only thought is, is it really worth it?The car generally gets used for track days, & thrashing only, so it does take a bit of a pounding. Oh er.

Thoughts?

For trackdays?

I'd guess, and it's just a guess, but wouldn't other components give way long before oil temps played a part in coming in? Normally brakes and tyres. lol.

aslong as it's got the thermo plate, there is no reason why not! If anything it's a nice bit of safety in the unlikely event

Im not really sure tbh, dont have many problems with the brakes (DS2500's, no arch liners/fog lights) and tyres ae normally ok (have R888's to play with now as well), but having spent so much on the engine latelyl, i'd like to offer it as much protection as possible really - but dont know if this is uncessary!!?

Bosozoku style oil Christopher, you'd love it ;)

LOL. Yeah, mount it on the roof with some lines zip-tied to the a-pillar. ;)

I heard that Renaultsports sold for the Middle-Eastern market had oil coolers from the factory? Or at least increased cooling capacity somewhere.

I was always under the impression that standard F4r's don't need to run an oil cooler.

Fred whats wrong with running a track car on 10w40 or 5w40? Why are the other oils better?

I will be running a cooler on my car this year

Oil coolers arent needed in my imo. I had one but after drving around Llandow for near on an hour with only stopping for 5mins to swap passengers the oil temp needle never went over half way!

Thats only on a Cammed 172 though maybe a sport running a higher spec may need one?!
