Oil in the spark plug chamber.

Hi all,

I changed the spark plugs on my girlfriends Clios Sport 172 today. Everything was going well until I found oil in the spark plug chamber on the second cylinder from the right. I soaked up as much of the oil as I could and then removed the spark plug - some obviously went in to the engine but would be burnt off anyway.

There was no oil on the actual sparking area of the plug so the oil has come in from the top.

Question is..... where the hell has it come from? Any ideas?

Quite a common problem, nothing to worry about, do a search on here you will find some threads about it

most likely the breather box gasket is leaking. Best solution is to lose the original gasket and seal it with silicon
