Oil Leak (pics)

Car  Storm Grey 200
Hi, My car has recently been using alot of oil.

And today i noticed this leak, well puddles of oil as shown in the pics...

I had the cambelt changed and just wondered if this could be due to the area not being sealed correctly?

wheres it leaking out??
is it the rocker cover or the head??

new gasket me thinks,

id get it sorted asap,
if its leaking full temp oil and a drip gets on your loom,
it could be bye bye clio,
(happened to my mates escort not too long ago)

Alright, cheers for the help, I'll get a compression test done to see if theres a leak.

Edit: Fred with the rocker cover bolts, will they need re-sealing with some stuff?

Just re-torque all cover bolts, you need to take the upper manifold off though. I don't have the torque specs but if you feel like just give all a soft tighten and you fill bee leak free again (I did it as I don't have torquemeter)

Cheers

why would you need to take the rocker cover off to do the belt??

did they replace the oil seal at the end of the cams?? have they put them in properly.

hope you get it fixed

rocker cover/rocker cover bolts, most do that, nothing to worry about

how much oil is it using?

as above. Mine did it when I bought it, losing roughly the same amount as the pic above.

Rocker cover off, clean it all up, seal the bolts with some silicon and replace. Hasn't lost a drop since :)

I thought mine was leaking there.

Turns out some plonker had filled it up with oil and missed.

Mine is doing this, appears to be only from one bolt. I'm going to seal it myself. If there are any other bolts need doing can theyall be done at the same time? Or do I have to do one at a time, to keep the Rocker cover on?

Clean it out, nought to worry about IMO.
But if its really doing your head in get it fixed.
Take the inlet off and tighten all the bolts but dont overtighten them.

hopefully it'll just be the rocker cover bolts leaking (very very very common)

It's great to hear your opinions on stuff 'cos you know your stuff :D, but sometimes it's a bit unnerving.

Can I just say nice thread! good pooling of knowledge. :approve:

what sealant would you use to re seal the bolts on this problem?

Also what is the best gasket to use for the rocker cover?

The rocker cover doesnt have a gasket and IIRC you need to lock the cams before removing the rocker cover as it holds it all in place, High temp silicon sealents what you want

probly just rocker leak, ive resealed 3 rocker covers this week, two f4rs and one k4m, pain in the arse job aswel. cambelt off and cam pulleys.
