Oil light and STOP light problem

I wonder if anyone has any ideas what could be causing the following.

I was driving home from work a couple of weeks ago, went over a speed bump a bit quicker than I normall would probs about 5mph more and a bit of a bump.

A mile down the road my STOP and oil warning lights came on, I pulled over and turned the engine off, turned the ignition back on pressed the button to check the oil and it showed as full.

Started engine and drove home which was about 13 miles and not a sign, checked the oil later that night once it had settled and was just under the MAX mark, so ok.

It hasn't come on again untill today, was driving from home to gaz's (gazeratti) house, only about a mile from home and same lights came on, turned engine off, turned ignition on, prssed button and showed oil as fine again, turned engine back on and all was fine, then it did it again about half an hour after, same again, when I turned engine back on it was fine and hasn't come back on.

Anybody got any ideas what it could be?

Fault sensor, loose wire?

And is there anything I can check using the OBDII port?

Hello,

I had this problem once, but the STOP light didnt come on, it just started flickering (not flashing) . Apparently it could be the brake fluid, it only happened to me once, had a service a thousand or so miles ago, and never seen it since.

Edit: actually ignore the above, my STOP light just flickered.. not the oil one as well, sorry

Sounds like you've knocked the oil sensor about to much. You need to get Renault to tell you which one is causing the fault realy to know which to replace.
Or just leave it and accept the light will come on every now and again.

Hi,

I bought a Clio 172 and i was working away for a bit, came back after 6 months and went to take it for an oil change (thought it would be best) and the STOP light and the Oil light come on and go off quite regular - I just hope that it's nothing to serious and my engine ceases! Anyone???

My oil low display and serivce light came on the other morning and the level is fine. Is the sensor under warrenty?
