Oil light flicker at idle

Hi,

I have an 02 clio 172. When the engine is at temp the oil light flickers at idle and goes out when rev'd at all.

The car is only used for trackdays so its gets a hard time whenever it runs.
A renault mechanic told me maybe it's the lambda sensor.

I plan to order some gauges in the morning which include oil temp and pressure.
And in the next few days I will be in GSF so I'll pick up a lambda.

Is this a common problem? I am hoping its not the oil pump!!

Any advice welcome, I am new to renaults.

how the hell can a lambda sensor put an oil pressure light up?
a renault tech told you that? i thought AA were bad diagnosing every car they clap eyes on as a headgasket.

probably just an oil pressure switch, or possibly too thin an oil grade?
get the pressure checked just to be safe mate.

Can be the oil pressure warning switch or the hot viscosity of your oil as Ditz pointed out.

Try a oil swap with something on a 50.

Yes it has oil in it.......

It sounded a bit bogey to me when he said lambda. I just thought ''he a renault tech he should know''

I have 5W 40 here that I'll put in tomorrow and the stealer is open again Monday so I'll get a pressure sensor. Think they are only a few quid. Its on the front of the block?

Is there a manual of any description that can be got for these? I am used to vag stuff which manuals are easily got.
What do renault tech's use in the garages?
