Oil Pressure Warning Light

  Audi TT 225
When my engines cold the oil pressure warning light comes on but it goes off as soon as it warms up.

Ive just come back off a really long trip and it started to come on if the revs dropped to idle speed... this got worse eventually coming on between idle speed and 1500rpm. Its not constantly on it mostly flickers on and off....

But as soon as the car is in motion it goes off again....

Theres plenty of oil in the engine although its due for a change.

Any ideas? Dodgy sensor or could it be something more serious? :S

Do you think it could be the wrong viscosity oil?
You may want to run a compression test.

Oil change is the first job though

Doubt it, all service's were done by renault, so the FSH says but Ive not long bought the car tho!
I usually use GTX Magnatec in my cars and change it myself (regularly) and tell em not to when it goes in for the service and stamp... I wouldn't put the wrong type in! Its 5W-40 for the 172 engines no?

I think I'll change the oil and filter this weekend tho because the oil looks well black and crappy.

Stop light also comes on.
