Oil problem

!72 oil warning light came on, i stopped and checked but cos the dipstick is gay and u can never tell how much is in it, cos the stick gets oil all over it when it goes down its long hole, but it looked appartently between the marks I put 300mls in and the light went off.

How much should i stick in if the light has come on in your opinions, or should i just take it to the garage, i'm worried cos its going to the ring next weekend.

I'd asusme that the light indicated your at a level thats fairly low, so i'd probably aim to put about a litre in?

Don't hold me to that though, and if it f***s up your car, don't come to my house

I think this thread has gone off track somewhat.

You can't take an oil reading until the engine has been off for a while, half an hour maybe. I know the dip stick is small but it should still give you a decent reading of what's in your engine. Hope that helps?

i read it again last night after it had been sat for an hour or so, and it was right inbetween the marks, must have been a funny reading from the sensor, just worried about it getting 10 hard laps round the ring and stopping half way round, lol
