Oil Service

Hi All

I was just wondering if anyone can help me.

I just bought my Clio 172 from Trade Sales in Slough & I have noticed tha the service manual states I should get an oil service every 6000 miles or 1 year. Is this correct as I thought the service interval was 12000 miles or 2 years

Many Thanks

You could do as some others have done and just change the oil and filter at between 3,000 and 6,000 miles and wait until 12,000 for the full service.

I have just had my one year service but have only done 3,500 miles since new!

Reth, I changed my oil and filter at 1500 miles (oil was well black). That first early change in my mind is the important one when the oil is likely to have a higher than normal amount of metal particles due to running in. Intend on changing oil/filter every 3K miles up to first official Reno service. I do a lot of short journeys so oil gets sh**ted up quite quickly. Use Mobil 1 0w40 and Reno filter, costing about £40 and an hour of my time over the pit.

Cheers Neil,

BTW what type of sump plug washer is it cause on my coupe there was two types a copper one that was flush with the hole and another type that was recessed into the hole.??

The services are at 12k intervals but in the service book theres a place for interval stamps. Im gonna go for 12k services and oil/ filter changes at 6k breaks

Ooops, forgot about that... Reno supplied a washer that had a rubber ring bonded on both sides. Also the sump plug has a strange square internal unlike other past Clios Ive had which were normally an internal hex. Dealer didnt have socket in stock so I actually ended up squished a lump of bluetac in the plug recess and used this as a mould while I reshaped my old hex key on the bench grinder to fit. Would be useful to have a list of all the Reno part numbers v models on this site for these sort of things. BTW, ust had a look at the box my new filter came in part no: 82 00 033 408. Dont have a part no for the plug washer ..sorry.

Cheers,

I used to use a door handle rod to undo the sump plug on my coupe but eventually invested in the correct socket from renault, the sockets that they supply were made by Draper of all people. Well looks like a weekend of no knuckles if the oil filter is anything like my old coupe to get to.
