Cat D
Vehicle damaged and insurer hasd decided not to repair. When vehicle is fixed, it can be regregistered as a damaged repaired vehicle.
Cat C
Vehicle extensively damaged and insurer has decided not to repair. may be repaired and put back on road, although it has to pass an inspection to be reregistered as damaged repair.
Cat B
The bodyshell should be crushed. vehicle should not reappear on the road, but can be broken for spares plus residual scrap value.
Cat A
Scrap only - vehicle should be crushed. it should not reappear on the road and there are no economical salvagable parts. It is of value for scrap purposes only, eg totall burnt out vehicle.
