on off lumpy running 182

  missmy257bhp r5/ got evo6
hi guys

having had a few of these cars i know 172s and 182s run lumpy anyway

but my new one will be running as normal then ticking over then it will start to die down for a few seconds like its going to cut out then be fine again

used to have a ibiza cupra which did this turned out to be a coil pack

Any ideas

Coil pack, MAP & coolant temperature sensors normally cause this.

Process of ilimination fella

LOL... same sensor mate

Manifold Air Pressure, i call it. It's the spindly-looking chap on the right of the plenum, sticking into the last "tube"

LOL... just thinking, it's on the LEFT of the plenum, as you look into the bay.

That's right; left. ;)

Should see my Type R when its cold, all over the place for the first 5/10 mins if driven straight away when started

cheers mate

i know some people have more of a prob when the engines cold mines more so if i have it fully warmed up ie after a motorway drive

if its once warm which do you think is more likely

oh dear back to 182 ownership lol

get a scanner on to check map pressure it should be 1 bar which is standard air pressure

  RSC 182 Cup
Mine was idling roughly and it turned out to be the coolant temp sensor. The only reason I realised something was def wrong was because I caught the sensor reading -30 degrees (or something similar) when data logging with an RS Tuner. Then the penny dropped as to why it was intermittently running rough when first started..... otherwise I would never have known there was actually a fault. I just figured it was the engine running roughly- which is often "normal" for an RSC. :)

In my case it would sometimes read -30 and then come good after a couple of minutes driving. Other days it was fine. The sensor was replaced last servicing under warranty and it's been running better since.

the other place to check is definately the ht leads, they get brittle very quickly and can arc onto the head.

mine used to judder alot randomly and would rev itself then cut out. Had the parametres reset and fixed all problems.
