You should see the speech recognition demo they did, It came up with gibberish and stopped responding after a minute.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
isnt the version you have a release candidate, thus meaning its not 100% ready for retail?

It's still s**t and I've not even bothered to use it. I just know :rasp:

Arrogant opensource junkie.

The only problem I had with RC1 was it's resource hunger, which for a release candidate is fair game I reckon.

Anyone that can moan about betas and RCs being shite needs a smack in the face with a shovel, it might wake them up... You signed up to the beta program/receive them through whatever subscription KNOWING that it was a test release and will have bugs!!

RC2 is a lot better than RC1, fixed a lot of the errors. I'm currently running RC2 at the moment and the only problem I have on the whole system is the compatibility of my TV Tuner card.

I'm running it on a machine which is 3 years old, so you Linux ppl who say you need brand new systems to run it obviously haven't used it. I'm running Aero on it fine.

Mells, I suppose you have the latest release and have used it enough to back those comments up, or are you just generalising?

I managed to get Vista RC2 to blue screen everytime it turned off, but this was only because I loaded a Windows XP driver for my ATI card, so I could run games on it. Once ATI released a new version of the driver, it has been fine ever since.

It'll be driver related - ALWAYS is.. Some Vista drivers (all 3rd party, btw) are shocking at present.

just like to say i have been running vista RTM for about a month now, on this very system

no hangs, no blue screens, only downer id say is that its a bit shite at streaming stuff from my NAS, but well, there we go!

  182 w/busted splitter :-(
I've got the 'release' versions of Ultimate and Business Vista (we're an MS partner) and if you throw the right hardware at them, they will run OK.

Having said this, I too have seen BSOD's, which were definately caused by drivers; driver support in Vista is still patchy at the moment, as it was when XP first came out. Give the hardware companies a few months to catch up and things should improve.

This was (allegedly...) why MS let Vista out to businesses and partners first (as usually they are more 'technical' and have more "standard" hardware, apparently!)

We've already had to fetch one HotFix from MS though, to cure a persistent problem when resuming a Vista machine from hibernation, it disconnected the whole USB bus, and any USB devices wouldn't come back to life - not much cop when you're using USB keyboards and mice!

lol, I'm just generalising fella. I'm not going to upgrade my half decent laptop to run it when there are just as good OS out there that dont require more memory etc to run.

You must have seen the thread last week about vista being a dogs dinner. All us arrogant opensource monkeys put out 2penneth in.

  Recaro + Cupped 182
Buy a Mac, I thought macs were poo when I used windows, but i have to use both at work, and its a far better platform, Crashes less, less bugs and faster and much more logicly laid out (to be fair i havent seen Vista yet) Its worth the extra money if you use it for more than just t'internet.

Just a follow up..............

I have had 4 BSOD's today and the machine was on for about an hour.

Really unstable, if you ask me.
