ONR - for the non-believers

  Audi A4 AVANT 1.9TDi
Nice find.

I used ONR a fair bit over the summer months, tbh, I don't know why I stopped! Still very sceptical about using it though and the theories behind it...

I think if you read the DW thread it will explain.

Its a car wash solution, which is great for when there isnt a hosepipe available - Shows, if your a peasant who lives in a flat, you own a shitty terrace house with no driveway.

Spray wipe dry. Pannel at a time.

Only problem is, wheel arches.

As am I Jim. As mentioned, I'm really not a believer in this sort of thing, but that thread really does show it's worth. If and when I get the chance to attend Audis in the Park etc, this could be useful!

For the newbies above, ONR stands for Optimum No Rinse and basically (as Toby has said) means a hoseless wash.

  a thirsty one
hmm i read the first page and got the basic gist so you give it a dam good wash and then use a hard polish and for the next (however long) you can spray the panel and wipe it down.

is there a link to the product used? i have used megs nxt quick detailer for touch ups at shows is this a progression of that concept and product advancement?

Not quite John.

The idea is you don't have to rinse the car. So regardless of your car's condition (detailed or not) it means rinse-less washing, which is ideal at shows etc.

The fact that the OP has detailed the car significantly at the start of the test is basically to show how little this product marrs the paint - i.e. creates swirls. Obviously having a well protected car helps dramatically as the grime is less likely to stick, thereby making it easier for this product to lift it.

Impressive stuff TBH !

Nice that someone has given a product/method a damn thorough investigation rather than the usual "I eat a cucumber before I wash my car with wire wool and that means I don't get any swirlmarks, says Daves mates neighbours brother from the pub".

Still prefer the idea of my bucket 'o' suds though...

I'd say its perfect for the average Joe who doesn't know what swirlmarks are and frankly isn't bothered about owning a KIA etc, but for enthusiasts I still think I'd rather get the pressure washer out tbh!

I use it, it's fantastic. However when the car is mega dirty, i still use it but use it like a more conventional shampoo

i might look into it for next year for shows as i could of done with it in august when i went to carlsile was a pain as the car was perfect before we set off then fuckin hammered it down about 45mins away from carlsile in the hills and ruined the car and i had to make do with using quick detailer :dapprove:
