Looks very very interesting! any more pics any where yet? that one seems generic.

There ITBs seem cheap enought though.

Interesting, i dont think its priced to badly, but that depends on the gains it produces.

LOL @ the "too expensive" gang.

Good luck making that yourself for less.

no but i mean once you have the moulds etc etc or what ever programme you need to nock these out, surely it would be cheap enough once youve got the design and the manufacturing processes setup

But that is the expensive part getting all the tooling etc, so they have to make money.

without going off topic here but surely if they lowered the price a fair bit they would be able to sell alot more

here come the penny pincher's with a full casting and machine set-up in their garden shed LOL!

This could be said about every single item produced in the world.

Its highly priced as its not a mass market item.

Chances are they will never sell more then 200 of these at a guess.

So they have to cover the cost of, research, development, prototyping, more development, fine casting, more testing and cost to put into manufacture.

Your looking at a few 100 hours worth of skilled staff and the use of good tech there.

Link us up with some more information Fred ;)

How long have they been out?

its just a generic airbox, its not specific for the 172, will fit all their body setups, been around since last year

as i say i doubt anyone has tried fitting that under the bonnet of a 172! LOL

I've asked for dimensions and a few pictures.. see what it gives you to play with.

Perhaps have to run it with no bonnet? ;)

Had an e-mail back from the guys.. :

"Its a fairly new product from Jenvey, and what with the recession being what it is (ie killing off tuning companies and aftermarket parts providers) its not had a huge launch like it might have done say 2 years ago.

Its classed as a turbo item because the plenum has been designed to handle pressurised or "boosted" air and distribute it evenly across the 4 cylinders. It could be used for NA tuning but considering the expense, 4 individual throttles (IE a conventional TB kit) would be a more cost effective option.

annnnnnnd again

Kieran.

"I do not have dimensions straight to hand as all the plenum kits are different and require different manifolds depending on the engines they are being offered too.

As for space, I cannot guarantee you will not have to make bodywork mods to fit the plenum, it is quite large!

See if he'll send you one for testing. I guess you'd have to to drill some holes and put the sensors off of your plenum into it maybe in the bottom somewhere out the way. I'd lose my front beam for that!

If you are able to run the electronic TB and stock ECU and still have ITB area gains it would be interesting. Not much hope though since its not tailored for the car.

It's not only physically too large, its volume is also not well suited to the F4R, it's at least 4.5 Litres last time I looked...

  340i
that looks like a forced induction set-up with ITB's... Where as the F4R one is a plenum with single TB?!
