Orbisound race exhaust

tonykart,

Did you manage to find those Throttle Body pics? Would the modded DTCC one fit a Mk2 172? And what are the DTCC brake pads like on the road?

And whats so special about the Orbisound exhaust to make it that expensive?!

I will put the pics on the net tomorrow i have them at home. (does anyone give me an address to put them on ???lads ???)

The difference between a Mk1 and Mk2 is that on the mk2 a potentional sensor attached, which is not on mine. I think (Im not 100% sure) the sensor is the throttle positioning which is for the motormanagment (correct me if Im wrong)

I use Pagid Blue pads, they are even used in Clio V6 MK2 races over here on the circuit, the ferrodo pads kill your disks badly ! The performance is great the only thing you have to keep in mind it brakes a lot different. on the back they will last about 40 K in the front around 20 k (depends on your braking abibilities)

Nope nothing special on the exhaust well its all stainless buts thats it and there is a Renault Sport tag lasered in thats it. No special thing. I also will include pics tomorrow.

the MK2 is FBW and totally different design to the MK1......

the management deals with the FBW TB in a totally diff way than just a normal cable and potentiometer arrangement, it controls everything from throttle position to idle control.

well I found some pictures,

Pic 1 is my car at my place

Pic2 the orbisound exhaust (diameter is 60 mm 23.6 inch)

Pic 3 the engine when it was installed in our garage

For the info, there are no numbers on the TB, the diameter is 78 mm (30.7 inch) I dont know what standard is. The Dtcc intake I have in our garage is completly different, its a special, you bypass the TB because there isnt one. Its a direct intake in front of the cooler with this mod the car handles sh*t in thick traffic, but will gain around 25 Bhp.

@ Simon172 The pricing of this TB I realy do not know, It came with the engine

Cant see any pics....

As far as I know, the Mk1 TB is totally different to the Mk2 as the Mk2 is fly-by-wire...damn!

People can anyone help me, I put the pics on the net. I used the address above. I can see my pictures why cant you all ?? did I do something wrong ??

BenR,

I just called our team to measure the bore is of our TB on the standard cup version it was around 68 mm so this one is 10 mm bigger in diameter.

hmmm....i think we are very confused now....lol

When i was doing some works on a MK2 kit in develoment i was fiddling about with teh link pipes as they are diff, then measured the throttle bodies on a MK1 and 2.

The MK1 was a plain bore 72mm (i think, but it was deffo 70+mm) then the MK2 FBW TB is a tapered design, and depending from where you measure it it can be 72 or 68mm etc etc......totally different design.

the one in the picture there.......is that an old cup engine?

and does your new cup engine run cable of FBW?

He ben,

My engine runs cable I just checked this morning, the inside diameter is 78 mm, I checked and you r right the original mk1 is 70mm. (measured the same way) There is a difference between mk1 and mk2 also the manifold changed. They had a problem with mk1 in idle and starting. Changed intake manifold and TB. Suppose to be better starting/idling. Never had it confirmed

The engine on the picture is the modified Cliocup engine you r right, you see the different clutch and seals. Different is the head, the Dtcc comes normaly with a different intakethey block the TB with a plate. And the TB is one big one(4) in front of the radiator. But if I put this one on the gasmilage is very bad and running very nervous. Power is all around.

cheers

thats not a problem. can replace the FBW assembly in a second (maybe two) with mk1 cable assembly. So, back to the question: is there a bigger inlet TB I can use and if so how much additional flow/perf is it likely to get?

two seconds to replace the pedal assembly as the TPS is in on teh pedal, replace the throttle body and cahnge ECU to a MK1 item as the MK2 item takes care of the idle control and throttle opening speeds rather than a linear cable control, then splice into the loom to place the potentiometer, then loose climate control as the MK1 was simple manufal aircon, immob probs etc etc etc.......yea, not too long.

hehe no pain no gain.. and ... AND .... AND

I have found a complete TB kit for me baby... hehhehe.

Head n cams this coming week and then ...........

i thought the head and cams were put off?

Like ive always said, the hardware is available....not a problem at all, the only thing is the manifold which is available form europe.

Mapping WILL be a complete b**ch though......nightmare!
