out of warranty....just

  05 IO 182 cup
ello ello

few of you know i got my MOt done the other day on my 05 182.passed but as an advisory note the tester said for me to keep an eye on my ball joint as it was leaking slightly - and also get a very faint knocking noise as well - have got a quote from the Kev's to get both lower suspension arms replaced for £200 - top price !!

thing is my car is just 4 weeks out of warranty, a guy at work had the same prob on his 172 prior to selling it and noticed the ball joints were on the way out at 66k - my car has just passed over 29k is it worth chasing with renault.

thanks :)

depends how much they want your future custom. they dont have to do anything as the warranty has run out however they may do it as goodwill or discount it.

I'd personally get my car m.o.t tested before the warranty runs out just to check there's nothing you can claim on warranty before it's out

I know, what with being made redundant 5 weeks back then job hunting and starting a new job it completely slipped my mind, got it serviced thouroughly a month back and all was fine so i will save my breath and not call them - i very much doubt that even as a goodwill gesture that renault could beat that price anyway

This is why you get your car MOT'd just before the warranty runs out.

my dads Freelander was 4000 miles out of warranty and the Head Gasket went, would have cost just over £1000 to fix but they offered to fix it and replace the gearbox/clutch (not sure why) for free...just depends on the dealer i suppose.

i know i was expecting to get a shoeing for not having it done - i could kick myself but like i said honestly the busiest 6 weeks i have had in years - cue homer simpson mode D'oh

The Renault warranty system is very strict and would not cover ball joints as they are classed as a wear and tear item. This includes brakes, exhausts and other items which wear down with use on every day journeys.

If your vehicle is out of warranty by a short period they do offer a system called the good will policy. Dependant on the mileage of the vehicle and the age they will contribute a certain percentage towards repair costs providing the car has a full Renault service history

As said above, I have complained about parts going soon after warranty runs out in the past, Renault customer services are usually pretty good on this one (not a sentence you usually assosiate with Renault customer services I know), but as a good will gesture they payed 50% of the bill! get on the blower!
