Outside Temp Sensor

The outside temp display has never worked on my clio and i would like to try and have it working. Both mirrors have the sensor on the bottom and there both connected up but the display shows nothing. Do i need to have the standard head unit installed so the small plug for the radio display works or can it work with an aftermarket headunit ?

is there anyway i can test the sensor ? i tried with a multimeter but the multi pin plug is too small for my multimeter probes to fit inside.

It works with an aftermarket stereo as both my clio's have had one.

I presume it works using resistance, like a PT100 or similar. You ideally need to test with a multi metre, maybe splice into the wires and tape back up after?, for resistance, if its low its broke, but i'd of thought it would of displayed something.

yeh i see what your saying, maybe if i just had one sensor it could be faulty but i don't see both of them been faulty
