overheating badly HELP

hey hope you can help
my 172 keeps overheating on tickover whenever i stop its so bad that i even have to turn the engine off at red lights however the temp returns to normal when the car is moveing and there is air flowing through the engine HELP

sounds like cooling fan is not coming on m8 would het it checked before it does any damage

sounds like fan but could have stuck thermostat aswell

the temp needle in the car doesn't rise either when its overheating?

Have you checked water level and that you haven't got an air lock?

i checked for that first and its still doing it?

does the fan kick in? turn your heaters up full while you get it up to temp
