Oversized images, 1mb +

Ok can some one tell me how i can reduce the file size of multiple images to below 1mb?
I would like to know so i can upload images in the ton to a image hosting site.

is there any programs, that you can resize (dimension) of bulke images? i use photoshop but as im sure you can imagine can take some time when doing lots of images.

Irfanview (mentioned above) does bulk resizing, it's in the Batch Processing menu.
