Anyone know much about it? Help if possible?

Im doing an essay on it, and got a fair bit of it done but im getting stuck now.

Can you give me your own thoughts/opinions on it please, like what you think of it in terms of legality and uses.

Anybody had any probs with it in the past, such as throttling from their ISP in regards to downloads.
