Hey guys new clio owner here (peter).
Iv decided to put my BMW 335i in plus my wife's car and bought her a new one and me the Clio i am about to write about.

Its a clio 172 on a 02 plate i live by my place of work so this is purely a toy for me.

its set up as a road legal track car with the following mods

• Inlet manifold from a 182
• BCM carbon fiber air filter
• full Janspeed de-cat exhaust from k-tec racing
• full omp 6 point roll cage with removable door bars
• red sparco race seats
• 4 point willans harness
• fk coilovers
• brembo discs and ferodo pads
• goodridge brake lines
• team dynamics light wheels

I bought the car like this so cant really claim this as my work.i will though add and tinker myself so will keep you posted when i do.

Just had the omp 300mm steering wheel and boss delivered pics up shortly of me fitting it.

Mite have to get an alarm fitted as im getting a little to much interest in the car if you know what I mean

Went down to see dan today at SJM for a remap.he had a look but unfortunately the timing is out on the car so I need to get that addressed before I can proceed.i did have a feeling it was underpowered.gutted went all that way for nothing

On a plus side mate, when he's corrected timing and remapped it for you it will be running/pulling very nicely

Yea was a wasted trip but be better in the long run.

here are a few of the latest mods done to the car

added a net

and new wheel and boss with snap off

Not to sure on the snap off yet but bought it more as a security measure than anything else.

Got to ask though - no carpets, bonnet/boot pins and no door handles but you've left the speakers and wiring in the doors?

Yea the car is still a daily driver so need the music.lol
The tyres are ok will be getting a spare set of alloys and will have toyo 888 on them but my current money will be spent on sorting the timing and a remap.

Car is re-booked in @ SJM AUTO for Tuesday having the timing corrected and re-map done.


Things to do next :-

I'm in the middle of trying to get a 2nd set of wheels and track tyres
want to try to tidy up some of the wiring in the car
Going to remove the rear wiper and motor.

little update.
Fitted a rear net

Got the car up to Dan@SJM for the 2nd time and DAN sorted the car rite out.Though he did have to fit me a new alternator as the previous owner decided to wire up a permanent fan to it and messed it up so a new one was needed.(£230)
Once the map and timing was sorted i drove home,was so impressed with it much faster.
Only problem then was when i was around 15 miles from home i heard a massive bang and the car went rough with no power.
Pulled over to find it had popped out number 3 spark plug and lead.had to get recovered to the garage.
The previous owner had neglected to tighten up 3 of the 4 spark plugs so number 3 decided it didn't want to be in the engine any more.lol.
So another bill was on me for £140 for that.

After all that i decided to sort myself out with some track wheels and tyres ready for llandow on the 20/08/14

Got down to the burpspeed day at llandow and it was awesome car went really well and stayed healthy for most of the day.
the car with the track tyres on was so good the grip was amazing but as ther the soft compound they aint going to last me.

Only little problem with the car was the car kept goint into safe mode towards the end of the day Dan@SJM (the life saver) had a quick check and told me i got a problem with the throttle peddle its self so its booked in to see whats up with it.

All in all a very expensive month but well worth it.

The car looked and sounded real good, mate From the way it was going it would seem Dan's done another good job mapping and timing it up and that you were having fun taking it round!

The garage plugged in the reader and it had a throttle potentiometer fault.hope it aint wiring that can be a knightmare

That's my old bosses car. He built that from Scratch!

I'm assuming you px'd the BMW as there's an identical one advertised on his website! lol

There were some frightening things I found on it. The way the fan had been wired in was a fire waiting to happen. Cam timing was miles out too.

All mechanical and electrical work was carried out by the guy that used to run AVS in Bristol. (Renault specialists!!)

He doesn't work there any more. He works for the RAC.

Car just came back from the garage. The peddle fault hasn't returned so they just cleaned the throttle body out and checked and cleaned the wiring up. Just need to see how it goes on the next track day.

Also mite be looking to swap/sell/strip this car some time soon ish as I need a more family friendly car as the wife is expecting LOL
