Paint peeling away on my 02 reg.

Hi,
I have a issue with the paint on my front bumper, its peeling aware and flaking off to the touch, otherwise everywhere else on the car is %100 fine, just thi little area that is looking really bad.

Anyone know is this will be done under the paint warranty? (I have not had it serviced by Renault since it was older than 3 years old, and it was also an import). If not, how much do you think I will be looking at to get it done ? Will it be a whole respray job?

Thanks.

My lacquer peel is worse than that. The paint almost certainly won't be under warranty, but so long as there are no peel patches on the bonnet and/or wings, then should be relatively cheap to do just the bumper if you can't find one from a similar car thats been rear ended.

Have you owned it from new ? If not maybe it's already had a respray or smart repair . Seems a bit strange that it should peel like that .

I very much doubt a pressure washer would cause that on factory paint .

my guess is that its had a new bumper, its been crashed but only bad enough to crack ur front bumper, they have replace it and got it sprayed.

Its not necessarily been bumped, although I agree its probably had a respray at some point it could've just been to get rid of some stonechips. I'll probably be having my front bumper resprayed in the summer to get rid of some.

The standard renault paint might be passable but if its been resprayed then it depends on the job thats been done.

^^^ It's not your average pressure washer though is it . I've used one for years with no problems . I'm still inclined to think that it isn't factory paint that's why it's peeled ., it's probably a chipsaway or similar job imo .

Hi, thanks for your comments guys, I did think Renault paint warranty covering it would be lucky.
The car has not had a bump as far as I know (HPI clear too) so not sure if it has been resprayed before or had a minor bump or somrthing.

It started off as a little blister (no breaks in it) and as someone said after I washed it just the manual jet hose it broke it an did all that damage! I was aware of it as I was using it so tried to avoid that area but still didnt take much to do that.

I'll get some quotes an what not, anyone know anywhere decent in the Sheffield/S yorks area? I'm kinda a perfectionist and having that on my car would always be bugging me :(

HPI clear just means it hasn't been written off, it doesn't record accidents afaik. The paint warrenty will be a joke, it has to be inspected every year at least iirc to qualify and I bet its like getting stella from a stone as well.

Just call out someone such as a dent specialist that will repair this sort of thing also, I know a dent guy who sorts this sort of thing out but he works for himself I think.
