Paint Stripper and steel.

Right, apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I want to strip some paint off some steel. What is the best thing I can buy over the counter?

I don't want to have to jump through 800 hoops to prove I'm not going to drink it, but I want something strong, that wont damage the metal at all.

Is Nitromors the best option?

Cheers...

I would be careful what you use and how you prep the metal afterwards then. I'm no expert but I know that you can have issues when using chemical paint strippers when you come to repaint.

I've recently had a load of parts done in Black Gloss and is shines no problem! Can't vouch for how smooth it might come out though as I'm getting odd shaped parts done. Could always use paint rather than powdercoat

paintstriper will be fine mate! nitromorse is the best! just scratch the surface of the paint first before you apply it then it can get into the paint! when you have a metal finish you can wipe it with thinners or water and this will nutrlise the acid in the paint stripper!
if you use water make sure you dry well and give a light sand before applying any primer! painting will be fine after this!

Aye, I know someone who can powdercoat it for £15, my only concern is, the gloss finish of powdercoating?

I want it to be full high gloss.

Will this chap not just blast it for like a tenner and then you can paint it yourself. Miles better than spending £5-10 on sand paper and a million hours sanding the bugger.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
He'd probably sandblast it first anyway if he's going to powdercoat it properly. It's normally done to get best adhesion.

He does sandblast it.

It's just the powdercoat won't have the same finish as a proper paint job.

I might see if he will just sandblast if for me, as per Pete.M's suggestion.

I've got some bits PC'd in gloss black and the shine is fantastic. If you wanted more shine you could always lacquer on top. It would be the best option if want the paint work to last. Nitromorse is great for getting paint off btw, and reapplication is fine as long as it's washed off before hand.
