Painting a strut-brace

Simple one really, whats the best way to go about painting a strut-brace ( currently red) a nice mondial-blue colour - or thereabouts, I'm assuming it will need a few undercoats of something.

Could get expensive if I get some actual mondial-blue from Renault, any good subsitutes out there?

id say spary maybe.....sand down to the bare metal and alot of metal primer and a few coats of paint and laccor.....then maybe a final rub down with 1200 wet n dry should do it...
