Do you need to use heat resistant paint or do they not get hot enough to need this? Would normal hammerite do?

hammerite smooth does the trick matey

Ditto, looks just as good and is cheap like a budgie. No need to piss about mixing the hardener etc in either. Just wire brush and paint.

yep thats fine..use a wire brush to clean them up first.
