A while back someone on here said that they had used Hammerite, which was much cheaper than the special caliper stuff and lasted well.

yep i used that on my last car its good

tip make sure the paint is COMPLETELY dry b4 you drive the car as it will splat all round your rims and look a right c**t

oh yeah and clean them up as much as you can for a nice finish

Yea hammerite will work well, just make sure u use a similar primer and all should be fine.. and make sure u get rid off any rust 1st otherwise it will all flake off and look gash

wire brush them and use brake cleaner on them, you dont have to use primer as the calipers are a porous metal, the first coat should sink in a bit and the second or third will build up to the proper colour. I used the spray Hammerite, which was less messy and quicker than a brush.

Did mine in Red at the weekend. Left them on the car did one wheel at a time. Halfords do a Caliper paint for £9.99 (used less than 1/2 a can to do 2 thick coats). Give them a brush and spay with brake cleaner and away you go. Took about 3 hour all in, While the first coat was drying I spent the time cleaning the inside of the alloys as they were black. As long as you are careful you can put the wheel back on as soon as you have put the 2nd coat on. Also gave me the chance to torque the wheel nuts properly.

Looks brill ! (knees were a bit sore the next day from kneeling on gravel for 3 hours).

Try painting them silver if you want that "just left the showroom" look.

Ive done all my callipers silver and even the rear disc protectors. You have to clean/re-paint them every so often though.

Any pics Ben H?

Im thinking of doing mine soon.

Red is my choice at the mo but I could be persuaded.

Oh dont talk to me about v6s Gr . What a pile of cack they are. God I wish I had never bought the damn heap.

Warning to everyone! DO NOT BUY A V6. They are the biggest load of poo Renault has ever produced badly.

BTW thanks for the explanation on 2mo!. Does than mean yesterday is Yes2rdy?

I KNOW THAT YOU DONT MEAN THAT DASH!!

Dash, would you please insert a picture to remind me what it looks like?

buy hammerite smooth. dont need a primer, just clean the caplipers and remove any rust/loose crap off parts you wanna paint. The hammerite stuff dries fairly quick but I left mine over night (just incase, dont want paint on my wheels!)

I am re-doing mine in white when the weather gets better/I finally get some spare time!

its about a fiver a tin. paint the calipers with hammerite k-rust first - gets rid of the rust and turns black. good stuff on the rear arches too.
