Painting Ph1 Door/Bump Strips

Doing a bit of searching and can't really find an answer to what I want to know, unless I am after something that isn't possible.
Basically I want to paint the door strips black satin to give them a new lease of life. They currently have that fine texture to them, I want to keep that if possible.
All the other threads I could find were for Ph2's and everyone says sand them flat/smooth. I am happy to do this if this is the only way to do it.
Has anyone re-painted the Ph1 strips black and kept the texture? If so how.

Also I want the "2.0 16v" in orange, so was just going to brush that on with a tin of paint I have to touch my wheels up with.

The rub down/respray is the best option. Don't think they made smooth strips for the ph1. I'd spray the 2.0 16v badge as brush jobs look gash 90% of the time.

If you don't mind taking of the door cards inside, you can swap the strips straight out for phase 2 strips.

A quick rub down with some fine wet & dry (1500/2000 grit) couple of coats of some plastic primer and satin black, then lacquer on top. Another flatten with some 2000 then t-cut/polish up

I don't want Ph2 strips, hence the re-painting of the original parts!
Well I want the lettering to stand out to match the orange on the car and didn't want to have them black like the strip, and not being like the Ph2's which the bullets are on the end, it is going to be a right pain to mask the lettering to spray just that.
But yeah, does look like a sand down with fine wet and dry before primer
Saying this, the black part on my grill is smooth and not textured, mainly as it was silver and not the textured trim!

Kit, I think I have some spare exclusive badges. You could always have them and primer and paint them orange, then flat down the lettering leaving the lettering black?

I'm after black background with orange lettering, don't think that is what you mean?
If it does end up looking gash I will just re-paint them black and keep them like that.

I knew what you meant but thought I'd give another option to colouring that would be easier to do.

More than welcome to have these ones as spares if you bigger yours up. Pretty sure there ally too.

Kitson I painted mine black and they looked so much better!
I will be selling them as well if you're interested

Otherwise, I sprayed some primer on, then some paint. Simple

They actually look very smart, just the look I am after!
You say "spray primer on, then paint"....did you not rub them down? Also how did you do the inserts? As the lettering on mine is worn and not that silver any more and patchy, hence why I wanted to put itto orange.
Would rather give mine a go first before I buy anything as I have little space for storage, but thanks for the option. (currently have a bumper sat in the garden "hidden" from the land lord!)
