PAS Issue When Turning At Low Speeds

  Ph1 172; MX5
Hi all,

Ph1 172. I have a power-steering issue at low turning speeds. It sounds as if the alternator belt is slipping at anything approaching dry-steering. The fluid level is good and there's no problems at normal speed.

I had the belts done at KTEC recently but I suspect that it could be a collapsed bearing in the aux belt tensioner, which renders the car undriveable.

The OEM belt and tensioner is avaliable from KTEC for £125 and it looks like just about the only possible DIY job in the engine bay. A quick search of the forum suggests this may well be the problem.

Any thoughts?
