Pas leak 100 miles from home

So basic rundown of the situation, Clio has been up at parents house in Norfolk for the last 3 months or so whilst I decide if to sell, or keep it as a second car.

Fast forward to today, plan was to get it home to mine as I have an offer for it from a work friend. Started it up after a jump, within a minute or so started to smoke heavily with what I think is power steering oil burning off of the exhaust. The pump is quite noisy when turning the wheel, there is oil in the reservoir:

I checked and topped up the level before starting which was pretty much empty, then after running it, moved it backwards and there was a patch of oil on the gravel so it's obviously p*ssing out from somewhere.

Car is currently realistically stuck here, in Norfolk near Swaffham, I'm thinking just to take it somewhere decent locally to patch up the leak if anyone knows anyone local? Or any other suggestions?

Bl*ody thing must of got wind that I want to sell it and s*it itself

They normall leak from the pipe underneath the car where the metal crimp piece is, but it only normally drips once every few weeks.

  dan's cast offs.
bracket for the heatshield rubs on the metal pipe and wears through. how big was the patch under the car?

It was on gravel but at a guess 3 inch circle. A neighbour of the rents has recommended a guy who is around 4 miles away, should I be worried about even moving it that far? I don't want to cause more damage with it being out of fluid

I drove mine for a good week or so 40 miles a day to work and just kept topping up the fluid daily and mine was pissing out a good ammount.
Having said that, a hot exhaust and PAS fluid wouldn't be a good mix on a 100 mile journey.

Yeah I think trying to limp it back here is a bad idea, needs fixing either in situ or locally. Rough cost on the common hose that leaks? I've heard they are tricky..

if you can get under you should be able to see where it's leaking from, if it is on the metal pipe wrap it with some rubber, bit of innertube will do and then get a jubilee clip on it but it needs to be right on where it's leaking from and that should do you as a temporary fix. i did this for a customer while we were waiting for a hose and he ran it for about 6 months and hardly dripped in that time.

Mine did exctly the same thing last summer, also when I was going to sell it! It turned out to be the High Pressure PAS pipe.
I did drive mine when it was leaking but checked it before and during the journey back home and did top it up along the way as I didn't want to cause any more damage. It did turn out to be pouring from the leaky pipe - the metal join at te front of the car just by the rad. I have not had any signs of a damaged pump.
Chaning this pipe is literally only un bolt from both ends and then just do back up.....but access is a killer, the garage I took it to ended up taking the subframe off, which tbh I am still struggling to think why they did this. I did not attempt mine myself as I would stil be doing it now 4 months later!

Definitely the PAS has failed and it's in Norfolk?

Epic. Take it to Snetterton on a track-day and enjoy the lack of PAS 'intervention'. You never know, you might not actually want to get it fixed..... ;)

@Coby. don't suppose you know a decent mechanic in the area? The neighbours contact is super busy for the next couple of weeks and can't help until after then

I just used Econotune on Lynn Road I think.

Couple of guys who seemed trustworthy and reasonably priced, didnt do work unless totally necessary.

So news from the garage is in, sound like a really reliable company tbh thanks to @Coby. again. They tell me that a heat shield has managed to rub through one of the metal high pressure pas pipes that are located on the rack itself. These pipes are not available to purchase separately from the rack (I'm told) so I'm thinking my options are

- New/recon rack from Renault or alternative parts supply
- Second hand rack from someone on here
- Replace existing pipes with one-off made replacement by Hydraulic specialist
- Burn it with fire

The job looks like a complete pain as well to top it off.

Ideas?

I've heard there are a few different options on the rack on these, does anyone know if that is right or if they are compatible. I don't want to buy the wrong one and the original is still on the car so I can't get a part #

Why does this happen so much with the RS Clios?? So many 99% similar parts - yet they can vary enough that they won't fit. Surely without a face-lifted release, the parts should be easy to identify - yet they are not?

Track rod ends, driveshafts, alternators, steering racks - the list goes on!

This route did cross my mind, I think that to remove & refit plus make up the pipe would be about the same cost as sourcing a rack
