Passenger seat was stuck, WHAT IS THIS?!

So my passenger seat was stuck almost all the way forward, even though it was working fine the last time it was used. I removed the seats and after moving the rails back and forth out of the car this piece of metal fell out. What is it and where does it go?

Also, under the driver's seat, what is this connector for? It was unplugged when I took it out already.

Now, the seat isn't locking at all, even if I whack it back hard.

Yeah because that bit that came out is probably the part that locks in to the ratchet teeth. New rail needed.
