PC > Tellie DVD Query

  172 cup TT
Howdy,

Bit of a weird one… I play DVDs on my PC and watch them on my Tellie (standard 25" Hitachi CRT). I have a video out from GRX card to back of tellie so can drag the film from my pc monitor to my tellie and woo great…

But, I am buying a new Plasma Samsung 42" HD ready bling bling… If I did the same from PC > Samsung would my PC need to upscale the picture due to the HD readiness of my Samsung or would it be fine… i.e. : do I need different DVD playing software on my pc which upscales to HD (only 1020i though)?

Thanks
Floodie

oh does it? - thinking about it, doesnt it down-scale it at the moment due to my current tellie res being quite low compared to PC res?

its a funny one lol

put in the dvd and watch it on your monitor and its upscaled
put it on the tv its upscaled and then downscaled and changed to interlaced tv is only 576 lines you will most prob have resolution set to 800x600 on the tv connection on the pc

Yeh your right, the "2nd screen" on my TV can only show about 70% of what my actual monitor shows... But regardless, it should be ok when i get the new 42"... they should be full screen and ok?

well you would think wouldnt you but tbh most probably no well it will be full screen ish but most probably stretched

mmm yeh thats what i kinda thought... i'll see what its like and if its pants then i'll have to sort something.. I like playing it through my PC as it takes advantage of my nice 5.1 - i suppose i could by a stand alone DVD player that upscales it and can use digital out to dig in on my mobo.. hmm... or could have 2 sets of 5.1 in 1 room! ha, erm no!
