If I'd spent 2.5k on a PC I'd damn well expect it to be better than a £260 console!!!
If you have the cash to spend on a PC and continually upgrade one then yes but if you like good quality gaming that just works then a console is the best choice.
but a dell desktop for £500 would not be able to play games as well as a PS3, to do that you need a graphics card alone that costs as much as a PS3.If I'd spent 2.5k on a PC I'd damn well expect it to be better than a £260 console!!!
what you getting for that a ps2?
your better getting a Dell desktop for £500 than getting a ps3 with a game.
playstations alright if you wanna do the same thing over and over and over again.
boring.
look at the Wii, possibily the shitest console i have ever used. im waving my arm everywhere and the same things still happening. why not just use a single push button and stop fooling people. the graphics are also crap.
£ for time spent. PC will always win! im not waiting for the next generation of my computer to come out.

and, honestly how much did that cost you?rich[182];2618179 said:All this perception that you need to spend £1.5k and constantly upgrade your PC is bantha fodder
I haven't touched any component in mine for over a year, it cost have that ammount and I can play FEAR almost maxed out at 1280x1024 with 2AA/4AF, looks stunning

And if you can find me a PC for.... s**t if you can find me a graphics card for that money that plays games as well straight out of the box I'll bear my arse in woolworths window.
As for the keyboard argument - Dosen't really bother me. I actually get out of my house and play sports which increrase my hand-eye co-ordination and reflexes meaning operating a controller isn't beyond me... although I'll conceede keyboard/mouse is far easier for FPS, controller is better for just about everything else football/racing etc
Although if you think a PS2 costs £260 I suspect you've been to busy in your onlin3 clan pwning noobs or whatever it is you do. Most likely with your underpants on your head, masturbating slowly to the 12th new add on pack for Command and Conquer or whatever it is the kids are playing these days.
Sorry, PCs for games machines are a pain in the rear end.
Sure, you can pay 1.5k plus for an overblown word processor and buy games for about 6 months before the games technology overtakes the systems once more and you need a new £400 graphics card to run the games at a decent res.
And then you have to go through the HD and get rid of all the spyware the games manufactures have installed on your HD. Thats if the game installed correctly in the first place.
With a console, you buy the game, you know it was designed for the system so it will work with no problems and with next gen consoles (apart from the Wii, but is that really next gen??) the power is there so in HD the games look as nice, if not nicer than their word processing, spreadsheet running brothers. I got fed up with my PC as a games machine and bought the 360 and havn't looked back.

lol
Ive never had spyware or adware off any game ive installed, lol. And surely being able to run a platform with much more games available, and being able to word process on the same machine is a bonus I wouldnt swap my PC for any amount of consoles, unless i was able to sell them all and get a decent PC :0)
PC's can also run extreme resolutions these days, console's have only just caught up to the basic resolutions.
I use both tbh depends on the games.

With a 19" monitor (lets say, on average), whats the point in an extreme resolution, you wouldnt be able to notice it!
^^^ but surely if you are going this high res, the time comes when you need a new monitor to view them as most standard monitors are 1280 x 1024 resolution?
Williams said:I've had a couple. One particually annoying bit of unwanted software was installed by Battlefield 1942 (EA I think) whereby it installed a piece of spywhere/adware which would make pop ups appear during the game advertising their releases during an online game! This had the effect of shutting down the game and causing windows to have a fit. McAffee fixed it but the game wouldnt let me play it without the offending file!
Also, any game which utilises Gamespy causes problems with whatever firewall I'm running, and I've tried a fair few! This is symptomatic of a system simply not designed for gaming, despite what Channel 5 might profess!
And all this on a PC which was considered high specced only 8 months ago.

Lifes to short to Fannny about with pcs
And all the adware bullcrap etc if your too stupid to run a pc well then buy a mac they were made for stupid people.

I'm assuming thats aimed at me as I brought the subject of adware up? Well I'm sorry, if its embedded into the source code on the installation disk by the developer (confirmed by a disc scan afterwards of the original disc) then how the hell are you supposed to avoid it???
