Peoples opinions , refurb or replace

I'm currently undecided what to do with my 182 ,

Its a not a full fat model but I've been looking at getting some of the darker anthracite wheels (suits silver IMO) , my current ones need refurbishing as they aren't in amazing condition, mainly the passenger front from the previous owner !

Now my debate is , do I get the ones I have fitted refurbished and painted the same as full fat ones , or do i just buy full fat ones for sale and sell mine on ?

I'm unsure as a good refurb seams to be about £ 40 -50 a wheel so £200 a set , or do i buy a mint set of already dark ones and sell mine ?

Not sure what mine fetch at the moment but thinking it maybe cost effective to sell mine and buy full fat !

So what do people think ?

Whats the going price for full fat wheels and normal 182 wheels? and what would you do?

Cheers Dean

Ahh winner ! see my thinking is , i dont need tyres as mine are all new , so i can swap the tyres myself and buy them just alloys ! and sell mine on , would prob work out cheaper! any ideas on what a normal set of 182 ones go for no tyres average condition ?

Its a bit of a trek to the centre of Brum from Stoke...but for £80 for all 4 wheels to be refurbished, blasted and then powdercoated...its a no brainer. They will do 'an' anthracite colour...and while it might not be exact match, it couls look better. I had Turinis done in 'Sparkle Silver' and imo I think they re more sparkly than the original ones on the 172Cup.

Think the cup packed wheels normally go for around £200. Obviously more or less depending on condition and tyres.

Doubt you'll get a mint set for 200 sheets.

Defo better of investing in getting yours refurb'd.

And plus if you are going to buy another set you'll have to pay money to get the tyres swapped over and balanced. That's going to be between £5 and £10 a corner.

Ahh the o ly good thing is I work at a garage so tyre swapping a balancing I can do free myself ! Although good wheels like you say seam hard to find !

That is mental cheap ! It's a trek as you say but that's a good price ! How long do they normally turn them around in?

Its about 3 or 4 working days. It depends on how busy they are and also how battered the rims are (as one of my alloys were fire damaged and the other 3 were all badly scuffed/battered). I dropped mine off on the Friday and got them back the following Thursday (was bit too late on Wednesday afternoon to collect once they had been finished).

The main problem with the place is their inability to answer the phone. Because they are so busy, you may have to ring them a few times for it to be answered.

Their prices are this cheap until their powder coat supplier puts the price up.

Bear in mind though that the caps might be a pain to colour match as they can't be powdercoated due to them being plastic and its difficult to match wet (normal aerosol) and dry (powdercoated) paint accurately.
