You'd have to have serious cash to spend £85,000 on that. Then if you had £85,000 spare why would you buy that? Yes, it is a nice motor but it is effectively a saloon car.
 
It is a serious history piece. It's an Evo.

I'm sure the BMW fans will tell me why.

Isn't the Escort Cosworth just a souped up crap hatchback? XR2 ETC ETC... All command premium in the right condition.

Yes I agree with that, if you collected BMW M division stuff it would probably be one of the must have additions, but at what point would you have enough cash that you could justify it? Is it even the rarest E30?

Yeah, I get that and understand what it is in history terms. But I can't understand at what point you could afford £85,000 for it. I then think that if you could afford £85,000 on it you'd have significant enough cash that it wouldn't even be on your radar. (Unless you were a BMW nut of course).
 
He's just trying his luck, and someone will probably buy it at that, but if you went in and offered him 40k I reckon he'd take it.

I think you're wrong mate.

That car is a collectors piece. If say Dave was a multi-millionaire I wouldn''t put it past him to buy something like that.

True petrolheads buy cars like that.

Have you seen Bonker's Ford collection?

I'll be honest, i do utterly adore the car at £85k, but could i justify (even as a millionaire) spending the extra £60k over this: http://www.4starclassics.com/bmw-e30-m3-For-Sale/ - im not so sure.

FYI, i've sat in a very late Sport Evo owned by a lovely chap on PH (even has BMW warranty still!!) and i'll be honest, it was the realisation of a childhood dream for me. This one in fact: http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=161&i=19345

If I had £85k to blow on a car, it certainly wouldn't be on that.

nice as it is, no denying, but you could get a mint Countach for that kind of money.

with money left over for something daily... like a C55 ;)

Tbh Dave I just assumed that was market value for that car. If there is the same car for less then of course you wouldn't buy the 85k one.

That CSL really is beautiful, not sure I like the colour though. I'll have Grey please. :)

Mace put in brackets 'unless you were a BMW nut, of course' so he covered that one. And tbh, if you were a BMW nut, you'd know these are available at a fraction of that price! Mental!
