Performace - Amount of petrol in tank.

I timed my car on a stopwatch (dodgy I know) with about 1/8 of a tank left in, I got a times of about 9.7 - 9.9 0-60 secs, I did this about 3 times getting very similar results. I then tried it again when my petrol light was on (few hours later) and was getting about 10.3 - 10.5 that doesnt make any sense!! Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers.

do you feel its faster with a full tank ??

if so its same problem they are having on the octavia vrs over at briskoda

My mum always used to fill her car and say it felt "better" after a fill-up, just like I feel better after a meal!

Ive never noticed any performance difference from having a full tank, but my car does seem to handle a little more solidly with 49 litres of unleaded over the rear axle.

the sender unit sucks out the fuel from the bottem of the tank so fuel pressure isnt affected whatever the fuel tank level.any loss in fuel pressure would cause a large loss in power, hesitations etc aspecially at full throttle(the engine may even cut out under full load).your right about what you say about the times it doesnt make sense.i always think mine goes better when the tanks quite empty.

Funny enough my car has horrible hesitation problems when the engine is warm. When Im hitting 2000 - 3000 + revs the car hesitates quite badly, any ideas to what that is?

P.S. Apologies for posting in the wrong forum.

had a read of that mate, interesting.maybe on some models the ecu leans off the fuel when the tank is very low to give you a few more miles but as far as i know renaults dont do this.never had this complaint at work.has anybody else on here noticed this lack of power?

very strange.maybe its something to do with the air pressure in the fuel tank as the valves that let air in to stop the vacuam affect in the tank all work on air pressure.
