Performance Chipping

  Der Panzer
Is it really worth it?

Can anyone lend me their personal experiences? I'm about to receive my company bonus and it's going on ICE or chipping and a Viper.

Please, discuss.

Cheers pmurray.

I'm afraid that thread still didn't help me make my mind up though. :( vbmenu_register("postmenu_1352934", true);

Put it this way. I had both a chip and a Viper fitted to my 172, and the Viper has been removed and thrown away and the chip is still fitted. I wasn't able to do a before and after dyno of the chip, but it felt better with the chip fitted right through the power range, and I got measurably better quarter mile times. Whereas with the Viper I was able to dyno it before and after, and the dyno said the difference was so minuscule that with all the extra noise it generated I pulled it off and threw it away. Of course you make like and value more noise.

Do a search for SMT6, it's a remappable piggy back ECU and seems to be pretty good, kinda expensive though (£500?) and £150 for each remap.

PM AndyGDI (?)for details would be a good way to start, he's very helpful.

smt6, combined with a few other goodies (BenR's inlet manifold) will see a good improvement in the drivability of the car. Well worth the money IMHO.
