  Deja vu 182
Your first car always feels the quickest . I had a Nova sr:dead: and it felt like the fastest thing on four wheels at the time :)

its my 2nd clio :D ive had a 02 1.2 expression before i upgrade to my 05 1.2 dynamique ive driven dci 80 clios when i was learning a 1.4 tdci fiesta the most fun thing ive driven was a dci106 clio that was a hoot :D but i still want to keep running costs down i dont want to see a petrol pump every week

Can't say I found my old 1.2 16v slow either, just got a 1.4 16v, wonder if the difference will be noticeable... probably, due to the fact Ive been driving a rental KIA pistachio around for the last month, yuk...

My girlfrind had a Mk2 1.2 16v before her Mk3 1.4 16v and the mk2 was waaaay more fun to drive and felt far nippier. Clio 1.2's are ace little motors for what they are! (a 1.15!)

  Integra Type-R DC2
I love my 1.2. Im under no illusions about its power (or lack of), but it doesnt stop me enjoying it every time I get it onto a, er, private road.

  Motorbikes
Can be fun but overtaking can take forever! Can be good fun on empty roads.

As for the petrol pump comment, I'm in a petrol station twice a week hence no 172 :(

Got to disagree Gav. I had a horrible yellow Fiesta with 130k on it and it was crap slow! Spent nearly every other week in garage or getting towed!

Sold it after 6 months and engine blew up the same week and had angry guy moaning at me. I showed him all the reciepts for the work had done (tappits, timing twice, distributer cap, and so on.) Said the garage thought it was fine so go and moan at them for lying to me. Sold as seen.

Then I had a 1.2 Nova which I did think was fast f**k and could beat most cars. I think a lot of the time I was oblvious to the fact people weren't tempted to race me, just laughed as I sped off.

Got 172 now and it is quick but sometimes I think not quick enough. Especially when I've got passengers but what the hell. Quickist car you'll get for your money.

A lot of the time it's down to the driver anyway. I've beat a few Saxo VTRs in a 1.4 Fiesta by perfect gear changing while they fumble about trying to find 2nd.

  Peugeot 306 HDi
I love mine:D One or two people inside only and it's great fun, especially on country roads. Foot on the floor and it is pretty rapid (I know you 172 owners will mock, but you aren't getting 45mpg too on average:rasp:).

Mine also coped easily with motorway speeds when I went to Leeds and that was with three people and a loaded car.

  182
I loved my 1.1 C2, could push it to its limits in everyday use. Good grounding for a more powerful car imo..

I agree with the excitement of driving the 1.2. I have a 182, my son a 1.2 and the slower car is such an easy drive, just drive it flat out all the time and it keeps up with the other traffic, the 182 is mental but very exhilerating to drive. The soft springs make it more peaceful, my 182 is so angry and aggressive, I love it, but the 1.2 has its attractions.
There is something nice about a basic car, no air con, vey few extras, although ABS is essential.

Sorry but 'The soft springs make it more peaceful' makes me think you should be driving a 1.2 all the time.

I drive a Vectra Estate 2.0 Turbo Diesal all week and can't wait till the fun of my 172 at the weekend and it still seem a little slow at times!

I went from a fiesta 1.1 ghia to my valver when I was 21, the valver was rapid in comparison. I loved it.

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
I bought my 182 Cup as my daily driver. The MPG is great so is the handling and the peformance is pleasing when driving hard.:)

My Type-R Impreza makes the Clio seem rather slow, obviously so. Boost is great in the low rev range and the quicker gear ratios are fantastic!:)

No where near as obliterating as the Radical SR 3 I rode in at Radical Motorsport.:) :) :)

  LY V6 with Recaros
My boyfriends 1.2 seems fairly nippy, doesn't make me grin when I'm driving it, but it's not exactly slow for a 1.2.
