perspex install

  Stanced Honda S2000

got 2 monster rocky fossys and 1000watt mono bloack amp to run em, whats perspex like for an install. it looks smart as, especially with sum neons glowing or summet. i know that u are meant to get it about 20mm thick but whats the quality like>? anybody know ?

ive got perspex windows if you mean - ove my amps, crossovers and power caps - the amps windows have manufactorers logos etced in

also ive found a perspex sub box, as well

il post the deatails if you want

i think hes on about perspex boxes

if this is the case, avoid them

perspex does not have the acoustic qualities that MDF or Ply has

and will sound crap

i have perspex boxes!! although bambam is correct, the sound quality is not perfect!

however, the boxes i have are 20mm thick (which you cant really buy or machine through normal processes, my brother owns a laser cutting company, so unless you know anyone in the industry - good luck!!!) they are also precision mitred joined (perfect joint really) and has been fixed in a way best described as platic welding (its not actually that but is more simple to say that!)

the boxes i have are probably the best built sub boxes ive ever seen, and although as mentioned above the acoustic qualities are not that great when the boxes are that well made, with such thick material (and heavy! with the subs in i can barely lift them!), they sound pretty damn good to me! oh yeah they look preety cool too!!

but to be honest i think if i were re doing mine now, i would probably buy ply boxes (better than MDF), and then somehow fibreglass them into a cool looking display, probably paint it bodycoloured or something, it would be a lot less hassle in the long run! good luck with it though!!

i havent been to the site either, but on your install - have a go at disconnecting your 6*9s and see what it sounds like - may sound a lot better!!

At the moment just about 85quid!

an Idea is to make ure boxes out of MDF and mount ure subs mount ure amp in the middle of em and put an perpex sheet over the top of it saying RF or summot like that ... u will have to get 12mm perspex prolly and then take it to a sign makers and they can etch what u like into it pretty much..looks sweet as..but like the others have said perspex sucks for the boxes because rather than wood (which lets it breathe in a way) perspex is solid..lets no air in or out..and also shows up reallllly badly where the screws and glues goes.. also because its clear if u spoon it up at all it will show up like a sore thumb.. IMO id stick to using MDF or Ply because its easy to use and can look/sound alot better than perspex. just use the odd bit of perspex in the install and it will sound cool :)
