Pesant Style Sunroof Questions ? (Is there a cure for the rattle)

  Shed.
Right ok. seems my sunroof is getting on ym nerves now. rattels like a ... well..... clio sunroof. (MK2 PH2)

Question 1. So aside from turning your music up full whack, and shoving a sponge inbetween the glass and the car, is there a way to tighten it up or something so it doesnt rattle, or doesnt rattle as much ?

Question 2. Is it possible to have renault Remove the Pesant Roof and replace it with the electrical version ? granded i have no idea if itll fit or not, and also ill prolly end up needing a new unit for the light in the middle where the button will ned to be, and prolly new uphoulstry .........

1) I find giving it the left hook while im stationary does the trick for about half hour. Also punching the lining shuts it up too. It's not the screws that need tightening, it's rubbing parts in the sunroof at different temperatures which is causing the problem I believe. And I think the sunroof catch is responsible for making noise when you go over bumps in the road because of the weight of the glass on it.

2) I don't know. Probably will be expensive even if they do 1.

  ST on the way...
The electric version can rattle worse than the non electric one!!

My old MK2 PH2 used to rattle like a b**ch till Renault fixed it and luckily my PH3 isn't too bad... YET! (both electric)

Every car i've had (106, megane and now clio) have had rattling sunroofs;( I hope whoever invented them met an unpleasant end. I think it's punishment for not being able to afford a better car.

you need to slice a piece of rubber in half and then place that into the mechanism so it closes tighter.

theres a guide, susprisingly, in the guide section by russ9898 where he put some scouring pad in the mechanism and he claims his is sorted.

Yeah as Middo said, you need a stanley knife, a bit of fuel pipe and some super glues optional. Remove the sunroof, you'll need to push the little red clip in, you'll see the the little rod with a washer on it, move that to one side, then measure the length of the rod, and cut that amount off the pipe, then cut the pipe down one side, put a drop of super glue on, and put it over the rod.

Then when you close the roof, and lock the handle, it holds it tighter which cures the rattle.
