Petrol blue - premium?

  MX-5 Sport
I'm doing my usual weekly AutoTrader searching, and have seen a petrol blue 182 on there. It looks to be full fat, on 05 with 26k.

It's up for just over £6k - does that seem a good price - or is the colour as bad in real life as my friends seem to think?? (Car is 120 miles away so I can't view it too easily!)

I like the colour.

Only time ive seen them is at FCS and its different but i like it.

6K seems good, worth checking belts though.

Looks amazing in the metal.

Rarest colour 1*2, so I suppose it should demand a premium over others, don't know how much extra though. Suppose it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Much better than Liquid yellow.

I'd rather eat vomit than own a Liquid yellow clio, but thats a different thread....

I do love the colour. If I had the chance I would buy a petrol blue version.

Didn't even know this colour existed! Looks awesome.

Wonder if it's as hard to keep clean as BG...

I've never understood why detailing obsessives buy black cars. They spend 12 hours buffing it up, and then every single trail of water ruins it. Detail - wash headlamps - detail - small shower - detail. SRSWTF?

Every tiny mark or swirl is a nightmare, you can't get it wet without having to dry it. I honestly do not get it. They must spend more time buffing than they do driving. Such a waste of engineering. It's like they choose black as a personal challenge.

Some people are sooo so sad it's funny!

Anyway yea love the petrol blue! Just not sure the anth wheels suit it. Silver turinis and it would be perfect!

PSJ.

very smart colour i think, never seen or heard of it till now, really like it, price does seem a bit steep but then again your paying for the colour.

I really like the colour, but IMO it wasn't different or special enough to warrant the £1200 extra for ID paintwork like the LY.

Whether people like it or hate it, LY will turn heads of anyone regardless if they are interested in cars, P
petrol blue certainly doesn't around this area where there are 2 of them at least

I think they actually do! Black gold does look amazing when it's been detailed .. however the effect lasts about 5 metres of driving before it's dirty again.

Petrol blue is a stunning colour, if I had a 182 again, it's the colour I'd have - if I could find one. Someone should post a pic of it in the sun.

It was £1200 extra, but I think I managed to get it down to £800. It was a great colour, but had to be kept very clean or all the effect was immediately lost.

I love it, Saner has one!! Colour matching is a b4stard though apparently...

Strangely for CS, it is the only colour that i havent seen wearing the obligatory turinis/splitter/coilies/coloured bullets package.

In my opinion, that makes it cool

I'm going to disagree and wager that most of the enthusiasm above would wear off as quickly as the novelty of seeing a 182 in a 'different' colour. ie After about a week of ownership. At best it looks like some kind of dishwater blue, at worst, grey.

I don't doubt that the effect shows up nicely after a detail and in just the right [sun]light, but lets face it, in all honesty for 99.5% of the time it's going to just look dull.

And yes, I have seen it in the flesh. And yes, just IMHO of course :)

Was just going to comment on Saners. On the runs we've been on, his looked amazing. Especially dirty!

Bring on summer...

I can remember him coming towards me in traffic on my way home from work one evening, and it looked nothing short of stunning.
