Petrol light

On average I am getting 320-330 miles to the petrol light but the weird thing is the trip computer goes to ----- at 40 miles remaining.

Should I push on for more miles?

It does that to show you have less than a gallon (apparently) remaining and you should fill up

I think mine's a little pessimistic but then the gauge goes to R not E ! So maybe its a gallon off the reserve.. ?

IIRC the Petrol light comes on when you have a gallon left.

I know the feeling, push on or stop at the next fuelstop.
You might carry a jerrycan or a little gallon bottle to see how far you will go.

The trip computer doesn't got that fast to ---- miles remaining on country roads.

Yep i've done 40 before with the petrol light on.

i ran out of diesel after 70 miles on the fuel light on my first DCi, was about 10 meters from the petrol station too

Well the petrol tank is 50 litres, and the most i've ever put in, after doing about 30 miles on the red light is 46litres, so make of that what you will.

60-70mph 42 miles per day

^^most I have ever put in has been 43 litres!

I use to get to work and back on red (40 miles) , but I did run out twice!

One night I was stuck on a back road, battery dead on phone and a 3 mile walk down a no speed limit well fast road it was also wet and raining!

IIRC the ---- is displayed because because ur tank is now on the reserve section which is a part of the tank it cant measure if i wanna find out hold hown the the trip selection and turn on the ignition u will here beeping. let go of trip selector and press untill u get a figure should be like 4L for example this is how much u have in the tank in litres there 4.55 litres to a gallon. and ive done 27 miles with 5 people in it on the red light and ran out fuel 2 mins from stations.

It occassionally reads below 40 miles but i'm going to try 30 miles this tank and have a petrol can in the boot lol.

In my experience the cup and 172 i had before over estimates the fuel used by almost a gallon, this obviously has the effect of decreasing the trip MPG so makes fuel usage look more.

ive got 417 miles to a tank still had 1Ltr apparently.

It gets to 56 miles left on the 1.6 before cutting out, pain in the arse as 56 miles is a long way to go.
