Petrol RONs

Heres one for all you petrolheads...

Ive heard a lot of conflicting stories about using different RON petrol, and what it does to the performance / state of your engine. Am I being a muppet using standard 95 RON petrol, or should I be going for 97 RON every time? I know some cars like the scooby wont change its characteristics once youve filled up with 95 RON, will a 172 suddenly notice Ive changed to super unleaded? Also, my filler cap says "98 RON" recommended, where the hell do I get that in the UK....???

Thanks all

would you put that supermarket oil in your car ?.......NO.......so why put sh*te petrol in it....to get the best performance use Optimax......or at least Super

all the garages directly close to me only sell normal so i end up with half and half depending on how organised i am

95 is fine, dont worry about anything.

In an ironic way, 95 RON is more combustable and will release more energy than 98.

Have fun and dont worry or be sucked into the marketing madness that is fuel RON ratings. Ask them for the MON rating then consider things.

i herd optimax is 95 ron with added chemicals to bring the ron rating up, thus why it will loose its rating overtime ????

and that oltimate is a true 97 ron ... ???

heh i use 4 star :D

BP ultimate does not have the extra "zing" that Optimax has....

I have been testing super types fuels for some time and Optimax definatly makes a difference.... mostly in response terms though...

certainly wont give more power...
