Yesterday, I had the pleasure of detailing my brother's 106 GTi. He hasn't owned it long and it certainly needed a good going over.
Process was as follows:
- Got rid of all the gay stickers
- Clean the wheels (Bilberry wheel cleaner)
- Snow Foam (hit a stumbling block at this point...)
- Wash
- Rinse
- De-tar (ObliTARate)
- Iron-X it (ZOMG)
- Rinse
- Clay
- Wash again
- Dry off
- Tape plastics off
- Polish using Menzerna 106FA
- Then had a layer of AF Tripple, as I love it.
- Layer of Z2 sealant (I ran out after 1 layer though so I had to top it up with a layer of Dodo Juice Banana Armour)
- Wipe down the glass
- Dress plastics (Poorboys)
- Apply Tyre Shine
Finito.
So, onto the photos...
Started the day like this:

I firstly took off a lot of stickers, leaving just the standard OEM stickers:
There was also a Pedobear sticker that was lurking in a wing mirror, which hastily got removed.
Snow foaming came next:
And then, the stumbling block...
Literally could not shift this. Grime Out didn't touch it, pressure washer over it was a 'No Deal'. Literally wouldn't budge. f**k knows what he'd driven through. My brother ended up riskily wiping thinners over it, which got rid of it. Never came across anything like it.
Applied ObliTARate and Iron-X. Wow, the car was covered...

Then washed again and inspected what I had to deal with. Urgh.

Finish isn't perfect, but the sheer amount of swirls was crazy. I think a yard brush had been used by the previous owners.
But still, looks 1million times better now and is on the route to looking mint!!
